Shivani has a fashion background and a natural flair for creativity – be it clothes or accessories. An eye for detail in every product that she buys, Shivani would invariably get tired of the run-of-the-mill garbs available in every neighborhood mall. This soon turned in to an opportunity when her husband, Rohit Sharma (who runs his own business of hand-made Kashmir carpets in Mumbai) motivated her to work towards her own line of business. Soon Shivani found her calling (came from her soul – in her own words) and started work on designing unique designer stoles. Semantika is thus a result of that passion and was launched with her sister, Meenakshi, as a willing partner.
Meenakshi has quite an illustrious resume, having worked with leading educational institutes in the earlier part of her career. Imparting education to kids comes naturally to her and she did this with fervor for over a decade. However with the usual repetitiveness suddenly surfacing, Meenakshi decided that she had enough and it was time to step away from the beaten path. As luck would have it, both the sisters discovered their penchant almost at the same time. As if on cue Meenakshi having inclination in fashion designing and to satiate her desire to prove decided to be on board with Shivani.
